Should I buy a 2003 avalanche with it having issues with the oil pressure pump & it needing to be replaced

Just be sure it's the pump. Low oil pressure also indicates worn or damaged bearings in the bottom end. I'm 1 for 4 on my motor's with low oil pressure. 1 weak pump, verses 3 bearings. I don't mean to scare you just letting you know. A mechanics stethoscope would let you listen to the bearings. If you offer this as a negotion fact it may lower the price. If it's the 5.3 they are very cheap used. It's a gamble.
buy as is and spend around $3000 to get it right, including a crate engine that is a turn key. This is one that is ready to drop in, turn the key and drive. Lower his asking price to get it. If that is a problem, what else are you getting that may be an issue. Look it over very carefully. Transmissions, 4 X 4 transfer cases and other items are expensive.
