high coolant temperature

Asked by fitzalbertmarius Jun 10, 2015 at 12:47 PM about the 1993 Mercedes-Benz 190-Class 4 Dr 190E 2.6 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the radiator, both auxillary fans, both temperature relays, the thermostat,
the expansion cap, the upper & lower radiator hoses, the coolant level sensor, and
flushed the coolant system, changed the oil. The water pump is good, and the heater
comes on and works, .... but the temperature guage still runs very high, but the motor
does not feel that hot and there is no steam. What is wrong?

The answer is yes to all three answer questions. Both hoses are hot. t There is heat from the heater in the car. I did flush and bled air from the cooling system. Also where is the engine coolant sensor in this photo?

If you say it's not over heating and you have heat and both hoses are hot you may have a bad temperature gauge. Can not tell from your picture were coolent temperature sensor is with out being closer to it.

If your fans are coming on when the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature the coolent temperature sensor is working.
