There are several possibilities: lack of fuel, spark or compression, these are possible Maintenence items among many other possiblities: spark plugs (worn), ignition wire (Worn), distributor cap (worn), distributor rotor (worn), fuel filter (too dirty), air filter (no air getting in) and timing belt (timing is off). It is worthwile to check for spark from the coil before considering the distributor, spark plug wires or sparkplugs. Assuming that lack of spark is the problem.

What I do to immediately find out if its fuel related, get some carb cleaner/brake cleaner, find some vacuum line going into intake(anywhere) and spray a couple seconds worth,if its a fuel problem car will fire up and maybe die, whatever, this way you know in a matter of minutes if ignition system is working, this is a good starting point.

if gas pressure is not good then check fuel pump and pressure valve also gas filter, if cranks and spark is ok, check crank shaft sensor, hope this will help
