why are there 2 thermostat gaskets for my 1992 300tewagon?

Trying to replace thermostat with the behr thermostat and the kit has 2 gaskets?

If the 2 gaskets are slightly different shapes it may be that the thermostat you bought can be used on different mercedes engines where the thermostat housing is a slightly different shape.

umm match the best shape with the one on your vehicle, never use 2 gaskets together for any reason, some have a paper ring, and a rubber one...maybe it goes with another piece often changed. post a pic, i will know for sure
