Transmission problems?

I have a question for anyone who can help? I'm
looking into buying a 2004 Chevy trailblazer ls with
the 4.2 engine. The owner told me that it runs amd
drives fine but he's having to add around 1/2 quart
of transmission fluid once a month. That sounds
like a bad problem to me? I don't want to get into
something costly. Thanks anyone for helping.

If your having to add fluid, you have to find out where it's going. It's either the pan gasket or the front seal in the tranny. If it's the pan gasket it's an easy fix ,however the front seal the tranny is going to have to come out to fix . It could be the dipstick tube. It contains O rings, it could possibly be the rear seal. It's easier to determine the fix once you know where the fluid is going. This of course are just options and my opinion. I would spray the transmission off and pay attention to where the leak was.

Just make sure you take into consideration you might be paying for a costly transmission repair with this particular vehicle, so don't overpay for it.
