fuel guage is erratic

2004 Trailblazer fuel guage seems to work when ignition is turned ON, but goes
to full when engine started and will frequently drop to empty after that. After 15
minutes of driving it will go to correct reading..

Erratic gauge stepper motor or wiring issues like dash grounds.

A bad ground will cause the gauge to go to empty and a bad power wire will cause the gauge to go to full, or past full. Hope that helps! Jim
