The hole in the bottom of the fuel tank would not cause the engine to misfire. Here are causes for a misfire to check...Possible causes: Faulty spark plug (s), Faulty ignition coil (s), Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s), Intake air leak, Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted, Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection, Ignition coils harness is open or shorted, Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection, Insufficient cylinders compression, Incorrect fuel pressure.

I just thought that it needed to have so much pressure in the tank they talked about that a lot on other sites

You would probably still get a check engine light on because of no pressure, but it would relate to a emissions code. The fuel pump in the gas tank is what builds up fuel pressure in the lines that run to the fuel injectors. This is a closed system.
