Increased MPG and better shifting

Asked by KY_Dave Jan 19, 2012 at 03:40 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

FYI: I had my 04 T/B OBC updated with latest version about 8 months ago. Clunky shifting disappeared and I get about 3 MPG better than before. I recommend the upgrade. Cost me about $125.00; took about 5 months to make that back in gas saved.

What's an OBC? And are you using Synthetic or Conventional Automatic Transmission Fluid? Using Synthetic improves performance & increases your gas mileage even more, while leaving parts better protected and will last a longer time

OnBoard Computer - they updated the software that controls how and when the transmission shifts, idles, fuel rate, fuel/oxygen mixture, etc. Helped a lot. I use synthetic oil in the engine. When I change transfer and transmission fluids this summer I will use synthetic gear oil too. Thanks for the suggestion.
