BOSE???? Why?

Asked by migration_mrd2u2 Jun 26, 2014 at 04:02 PM about the 1999 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 320 SWB

Question type: General

Can anyone tell me why such a highly rated drivers car settle for one of the lowest rated
audio products as their OEM sound system? the paper cones and amplifier that craps out
etc are enough for me to stick with my Avalon with a wonderful JBL in it. And WHY have
the CD changer in the trunk and not in dash? These are signs of a much lower end car.
i.e. - I can't find tweeters in this thing.

Yes - I have had 1999 - and now a 2000 Avalon with a JBL 7 speaker with in-dash 0 not in Glove compartment - CD changer. Also had a 95 - when they had Harmao Kardon and so the old sucked new is better is not the case. Auto headlights, compass, distance to empty, ave, MPG, instant MPG - I just happen to be a bit of an audiophile and cannot understand MB's thinking - cutting all of these corners. Most people don't buy flagship cars - I have owned 2 Lexus LS400's a GS400 - dipping toe into the German market and trying to understand the priorities, They could have installesd JBL, INFINITY or Harmon Kardon all 2X the sound quality for the same $ is all. Just asking. . I guess i will go drive one - there is a nice looking white S320 in the neighborhood.
