Rear caliper 2001 s500

How do i know without pulling the caliper
that its a 42mm or a 44 mm rear caliper

What is this number relating too? 42mm is only 1.653" & 44mm is only 1.732" and this is too thick for the rotor width, too small for a diameter.

I think he is asking for the diameter of the brake caliper piston as if he is going to rebuild it. The rear piston is 42 millimeters and the front caliper piston(s) is 44 millimeters. I would just buy the whole caliper. Rebuilding them is asking for a BIG headache. I've never seen a rebuild that didn't leak. Someone is trying to identify the part by piston size. Lot easier to say "front" or "rear".
