Mercedes Benz SLK320 V6 no start

I was wondering if anybody knows anything about
a  Mercedes Benz 2001 slk 320 v6  do they have a
chip in the key that will prevent this car from
starting? And is there a code?

Yes. The key do have transponder chip. It have to be program to synchronizes with the car. Some Lock&Smith can, some not. You have to call them up. Cuz I have same car as you (2001 SLK320 V6 (Manual 6-Speeds)
