Wont Start

Asked by mremjaye Apr 14, 2010 at 02:42 AM about the 1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK 230 Sport Supercharged

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Lost the key to the Vehicle, gad the key made by Mercedes. Put the key in ignition, car would crank but would not start. Called Mercedes Benz they told me it has something to do with the EIS because 8 Keys were made already, and that was number nine key.

Wow, first of all, why the ninth key?!? What ended up happening? Did you have to have your car re-programed?!?!

the factory key has a computer chip in it,a remade key will not work.
