I was having a somewhat similar situation with my 2001 slk 230. I changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter, it started a few times but would stop. Then it would turn over but not start and no fuel pressure. Eventually determined it was the fuel pump relay faulting. I changed the K40 and it start and has been running fine. Check the relay to see if yours is functioning properly.
