Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When I use the electronic switch in the truck, the 4x4 light comes on, I hear a knocking as if it is engaging, however, it won't engage. We replaced the fuse, but still nothing. Any suggestions?

Make sure the actuator on the transfer case is clear, no major mud or grease buildup. If it is, get under there with a pressure washer and see if it works.
no acuaitor on transfer case, their is a small motor on back of TFC,also check the vac lines on top of it.
That is the actuator, it moves the shift forks instead of the driver using a shift lever.
FORD dont use the acuaitor,it is the motor on transfer case.
Thanks guys....it turned out to be a vaccuum hose. problem solved.
