Check your fuses first. Dose you truck have daytime running lights(DRL)?
fuses all check out an it does not have drl or auto headlight switch iam leaning towards the dimmer but not sure i dont want to throw parts at it

Power for low and high beams goes through the headlight and dimmer switch. Flash-to-pass, goes around the headlight switch, straight to the dimmer. It still can be either part. With the headlight switch in the "on" position, check for power at the Red w/yellow stripe wire at the headlight switch. If you have power there, it's a bad dimmer switch. If there is no power, then it's the headlight switch.
thank you i will give it a shot
Hey, I have the same problem. I've replaced the dimmer switch and the head light switch. I have new bulbs, I've done the pigtail to the headlights but still doesn't work. I've checked all of my fusses as well. Can anyone help? Thank you!
Hey jcks did you find a solution to your problem. I need help as well
Same problem here with 02 F350 7.3 Diesel. Replaced lamps, dimmer. My problem is a short in the steering column, as I could get them to come back on by moving it. Now completely dead and am searching through the wiring to find the short.
High beam/wiper assy on colume $50 part on amazon
Did anyone figure this out?
Yep! My issue was the wire harness at twelve o'clock behind the steering wheel on the steering column. I recall just two phillips bolts and unscrewing the column adjustment lever to remove the two plastic covers. One of the leads in the harness wasn't making a clean connection. I sanded them all down, disconnected and reconnected the harness several times to "re-seat" it. No problems since.
I have the same problem. Tilting the steering column got the lights to come on, and moving the wiressin the column worked occasionally. I found the connector on the multi function switch burnt, as well as the switch (plug on top by hazard button) not sure if the problem came from the switch or if I have an issue in the harness..... any ideas??
Thank you to Goodwrench707 and Todd, after checking the red w/yellow stripe wire I found that I have power in it. I was able to troubleshoot and find out that the wire harness was my problem. I tried to fix the connector but by moving the steering wheel adjustment, the light was cut off again. I am ordering a new harness but in the meantime, I was able to secure the connector and used a zip tie to keep it in place.
Same intermittent issue, worse until no headlights. Jiggling harness at switch no longer effective, finally dropped headlight switch and removed connection. Red wire w/ yellow stripe had missing retainer allowing it to slip further and further back until no physical contact. Temp fix with heated small nail and drove it thru plug assembly to trap female spade connector so it can not back out. No metal surrounding so won't short at least until can replace socket housing.
Pull the fuse panel out traced wires to the last black relay on fuse panel re seated harness on the back of fuse panel. And this fixed it wires not secure on back of panel.
First thing to check is ground wire that’s what was wrong with mine not the switches you can run a ground to light then battery to make sure !!
what i found is the structure where the bulbs are located is blocking the view to the sides is a bad structure manufacture by the ford company
Had no headlights, low or high, had all other lights. 2010 F 450... drivers side pigtail had a corroded. Fixed it and all is good.

Thought I might chime in. I had this same problem and it ended up being the large fuse in the distribution box under the hood. It was a 30a in spot #15 for me but it will vary by year/model. Hope that helps someone...
i had the same problem on my 2003 ford king ranch took dash apart , headlights , then i checked to see if i had power to the headlight switch. there was none checked fuses again. moved tilt and there it was. what a waste of time . thanks for all the posts. then i remembered same thing happened on my 2003 dakota .who would have thunk it.

Arrgggg so my 1999 F350 high beams quit. So I figured high beam turn signal switch. Nope didn’t work. I happened to have my trailer on the truck at the time. The trailer lights are acting like bad ground. So I need to find the ground? Any ideas where it is?

I have a 2003 F350 Superduty 6.0 with no front headlights working. High Beams Work, all other lights work. Low Beams do not work. Traced Yellow wire with red stripe and power turns on and off on main light switch and multi function switch. I do not have power / voltage on both low beam light fuses.
