2004 models and older usually has the gas pump in side the gas tank the use the same gasoline to keep it from overheat, you gas pump is probably ruin, 1 turn the key ON and listen for noise in the pump. 2 check for gas pressure using gauges or 3 remove the filter and turn on the switch to see if u have gas pressure "u will need help one person turn the key and other see the Line, the gas should come out with pressure and fast use safety glasses. 4 test, soak a towel with gasoline place it UNDER the air filter INTAKE " MAKE sure is under filter if not the car will swallow the towel into the throttle body. try turn the car on If one of this work means that u gas pump is bad. its located under neath of the back seat

Is the car on a flat surface? If it is not then $5 worth of gas isn't going to reach the fuel pump. When u hear the pump does it sound loud?

I first would try more gas, I also would check the oil cause there is a sensor on or near the oil pan that would prevent the car from starting when the oil level gets to low. Then I would check for codes.

When I turn the key to the on position I do hear the fuel pump but it's not loud it just sounds like a humming noise and the gas gage goes up to a little over a quarter tank. So could my fuel pump still be bad even though I hear it come on or what

Have u tried turning the key on wait for the fuel pump to go off and repeat that about 3 to4 times then try to start the engine. Even though its fuel injected u may have to press the accelerator down while trying to start the engine.
