How to fix the anti theft lock

Asked by GinaMascarenas Feb 22, 2018 at 05:11 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2003 Chevy Malibu yesterday
and somehow when I got it home and
turned it off the anti theft system went on
and I tried everything to get it to work.
I found the solution today.
You have to make sure that the car is
completely in park. My car wasn't all the way
in park. We had to push up on it.

That's not the security. that's the shifter safety switch doing its job because you were not in park.
