2002 ford explorer sport trac sputtering with no codes

Asked by miguelrosas9612 Feb 19, 2016 at 04:02 PM about the 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4WD Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2002 ford explorer sport trac and a few weeks  ago the engine
started sputtering and a misfiring code popped up but so i changed the plugs,
wires, and the coil now i dont have any codes but the thing is still sputtering i
was also checking one the pcv hoses and it had a decent amount of oil in it
and it smelled like a mixture of fuel and oil i dont know if those would be
connected or not

no trouble codes? you know the oxygen sensor uses minute changes of the platinum or plonium or whatever and is the damned thing that determines your air/fuel mix...so unscrew that one and see if it's all eaten up~
