My 1997 f250 is running bad when it gets warm.

Asked by Burnout962 May 27, 2013 at 10:08 AM about the 1997 Ford F-250 2 Dr XL Extended Cab LB HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine runs fine until it gets warm, then it starts to cut out like its running out of gas when accelerating. I have changed the fuel pump and ignition module but it is still doing the same thing. Any Help?

Not sure if this applies to 250s but the 150s had an issue where the rear two cylinders on the right bank were just below the heater hoses. The hoses would leak a little coolant onto the spark plug tubes and over time would cause a misfire. Pull those plugs to check. If you have that issue, there will be all manner of crap in those tubes. A thorough cleaning and sealing the plug wire boots to the tubes with RTV is the cure.

Check the Catalytic Converter? Any DTC's? Did you Change the fuel filter when you changed the fuel pump? Which engine does it have?
