1991 F250 has to switch between tanks frequently to keep it running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1991 F250 runs great, but frequently requires switching tanks, even when
both are full. Anyone know what the fix is?

Check the fuel pressure and flow of the lift pumps inside the fuel tanks, the problem I see is the pumps maybe overheating and shutting down after a period of time so it’s going to be hard to verify they are shutting off. Another problem these had is sticking fuel tank switching valves. Some even had a filter inside the little plastic bowl and these get plugged, so look for that also.
