I just had to pull over before my engine got to the
red zone do I add coolant while the engine is hot or
do I wait for the engine to cool down all I got is
water on me

You add the coolant or what every you got while the engine is running! when it is hot.

Don't take the cap off, add it to your overflow tank and it should suck it in.
