I have a cadillac that won't jump start ,I got the new battery and it took right off.

If your battery is completely dead or nearly dead, all the jump starts in the world will not make that truck turn over. You have to have a good dead battery for the voltage to pass thru to your starter, if your battery is no good (plates buckled) the voltage will go into your battery from the jumper battery but that's as far as it will go. Spend the $80.00 and get a new battery. You'll have peace of mind that you won't need any more jumpstarts and you'll feel confident especially on a nasty cold winter's night.. MrBlueOval
The only other way to start it is turn on the key, black jumper wire ground to ground, red jumper wire from good battery with "jumper' vehicle running, and put the other end of the red jumper wire directly on the starter lug where the starter cable hooks up
I have to add. If manual trans make sure it's in neutral with parking brake fully engaged and wheels blocked, if auto, well,.... park. Also with parking brake set. That procedure I described, if not done as I just explained can get you run over and killed, Yeah, that dangerous, please be careful if you try this to drive to get a new battery....... like those guys said, they are correct I agree
I remember 2 years ago I had that problem. I had another person try cranking it for me and the ground clamp on the battery started smoking. I took both clamps off and saw that crud built up between the clamp and battery post. Two years now and running fine with no battery issues. BOB LECH
