Did I ruin my transmission by driving in 4 low at high speeds?

While driving my 1999 Ford in icy conditions I put truck in 4wd low.  Things got
better but i forgot to take it out,  Shortly after that my odometer started swining
like crazy and me speedometer quit.  After we go out of the cold it all returned
to normal.  Now it does it every so ofeten,  Did i mess up my transmission?

I think all you can do is make sure the fluid is at the proper level , and yes , you may have screwed something up driving it like that and may have done it in with a vehicle that old . Better think about something else to drive .

Usually when that happens the engine blows up, but as you are having speedometer issues I would have the transfer case and the speed sensor checked. Overspeed on the transfer case can cause sensor drive and driven gears to fracture and then give misreads to the computer.
