Check gauges light comes on and the oil pressure goes to zero at idle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2003 Trailblazer. At idle the check gauges light comes on and the oil pressure
goes to zero. It is not making any noises at all. I checked the oil and it is full. It does not
seem to interfere with the way the truck drives. The oil pressure goes up when I step on
the gas and stays where it is supposed to.

no fuel pressure a low rpm- stop! Check Engine light- stop!
Those early models had issues with the cluster head and the motors that move the needles to their proper reading. No help from GM for earlier models. You can find a cluster repair on EBay, very reasonable considering GM charges about $500 buck for a new cluster. Don't jump on the first guy you find or the cheapest. Read through them and look for someone with a lot of experience and guarantees. There is a guy that explains every possible thing you could ask. Good luck
Oil pump going bad in it change Soon
The light comes on because it's telling you to check your gages. Thats why your oil is staying on zero. I think the cluster is going bad. But the strange yellow orange light that's just a gage check warning. It doesn't effect the performance of the car.

If it fluctuates from 0 - 40 then it could be the sending unit or maybe the oil pressure sensor is going bad or bad. I would start with the cheapest solutions first. Even if you are a quart low it will do that also.

I too want a solution on this. When the ‘check gauges’ light comes on, the RPMs increase upto 1.5 from 0.7 (idle). Please tell me how can I switch the light off as a whole. I know my temperature gauge is broken and I don’t want to fix it at this point. Please help!
it's the o ring on the oil pickup tube in the oil pan. I just changed mine after dealing with the same problem. Now holds 40 psi at idle.
