Why does it sometimes start and sometimes not?

Asked by Jim Jul 07, 2023 at 01:36 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Venture Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sometimes it starts and runs and sometimes it will not start (starter is good)
turn the key and engine cranks but no start remove air cleaner and squirt
start fluid into cleaner and crank engine, car starts and runs until start fluid is
gone after engine quits I crank the eng and it starts and runs revup no miss
turn off and it might start and it might not. Anti theft is not the problem and I
have no codes set, replaced the following Crank pos senser, Cam sensor
and fuel Pressure regulator. also fuel pump and Filter. Why does it turnover
and is firing injectors but not getting fuel but spray either into intake and it
fires and runs and sometimes until I turn off key, also engine will run with the
cam sensor out of engine and engine will run. any good ideas???

check for good ground at fuel pump and motor to chassis ground also . test for proper fuel pressure some vehicles are particular just having some won't do . Mice can invade even a daily driver

It is now running have no idea what I did but it is possible the connector that the inj, coil etc on the top of the eng is acting up. All of this started when the fuel pressure reg went bad which I replaced and the van ran just fine and then out of the blue it started this no start, I at first blamed it on the Passkey but I never have had the warning come on and there is noway to go around the pass key a lot has been written but it is pretty fool proof.Just have to hope it keeps running, thanks for the inpu
