f150 I-6 clicks once when starting

Asked by JaketheGrake Jun 13, 2018 at 04:21 PM about the 1992 Ford F-150 S LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 92 F150 with the 4.9 inline 6, when I go to
start it, it gets one click. I had this problem before
and it was a connection on the starter. there is a
new starter, I got new battery terminals and they
fixed it for about six or seven times starting it. I've
tried other batteries, cleaned all the connections.
I started it this morning and it started right up,
twice. now it just clicks again. any help much
appreciated!

Then I would say you have a bad starter, not the first time a auto part store sell a faulty starter.

If you didn't buy the starter that long ago, I would start by replacing it again before you open up a big bag of S*** chasing wires that may or may not be your issue.
