Ford pickup power window rolls down but not up

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've got a '94 F150, and the power window rolls
down fine but won't roll up. When you press the up
button, the motor makes a noise like it's fighting. If
I push the regulator up, the motor is able to get the
window up. So, is the problem the motor or the
regulator? I'd really like not to replace the motor
only to find it still not working and have to change
the regular too, or the other way around. Help?

If you inspect the regulator, you will see visual wear. Most likely it's the switch itself. Assuming it's the driver's side. Try cleaning the switch contacts, they tend to get dirty or burnt, if not, it's a bad motor.

But the motor makes noise when I press the up button, so the switch has to be working. Right? And, yeah, it's the driver's side window.

Inspect regulator for mechanical wear, if u don't see anything or feel it hanging up, replace motor
