If the window moves up or down, but only in one direction, the problem is not with the window motor. The DC window motor operates in opposite directions by reversing the polarity of the voltage to the motor. The problem is either in the switch providing + and - to the motor or the wiring itself. Begin checking at the drivers side door with the multi switch. With a vehicle 15 years old, there could be a wiring problem in that door because the wire is constantly flexed each time the door is opened and closed. Check the wires inside the rubber boot which contains the wires running from the door under the dash. You may have a broken or frayed wire.
