What to do about fuel problem on older ford (the has sat)?

Asked by LTullous331 Feb 21, 2017 at 07:37 PM about the 1995 Ford F-150 Eddie Bauer Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought a 95 ford f150 351 with dual tanks that has been sitting for two years. I toggled back and forth on the pump switch over and the front tank showed to be empty so i filled it up with premium gas truck started/ran great. A few days later it started to sputtered and died. Now it will start back at random and run fine for a while and a few miles down the road it will start doing it again. I've drained the tank twice, replaced the fuel filter, and it pumps gas decently but im wondering if the fuel pump isn't strong enough or clogged?? Where do i go from here? Any help would be amazing, can't even get to work and back.

Maybe you should go ahead and replace the pump. If the gas tanks were in bad shape the filter could be plugged up again. Are you using a fuel system cleaner? I have found Techron to be very good.
