truck shuts off

Asked by GuruDY718 Dec 19, 2017 at 09:13 AM about the 1995 Ford F-150 XL 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 F150 XLT 5.8. It shut off in the
middle of the highway at a red light. Truck
would not crank up so it got towed to a
nearby parking lot. Once there it started
back up. The guy that towed me toldme to
try to change the ignition control module. I
had it checked and it was bad so I
replaced it but now when my truck starts it
blows white smoke from the tailpipe. I'm
not sure if this fix my problem or created
another one. Any suggestions or ideas

White smoke out the exhaust is a sign of coolant leaking into an engine cylinder Usually a blown head gasket
