Should start by having the battery checked out to make sure it is good, then clean the battery cables on both ends.

Dirty or corroded cables can be misleading, it makes it sound if the starter was bad but just doesn't get enough current to turn it. Check voltage at battery should be at least 12.4vdc, check the cables specially the one on the starter itself if those are good and clean, check the ground cable. If all these things are ok, check Voltage at the starter relay on firewall, if ur getting propper voltage going to the starter, replace starter
