Truck want stay on

Truck stopped while driving. Filled up tank. It cranks up but
when i press the gas it sputters off like its not receiving
gas...should i change fuel filter

YES. If it continues to sputter check the fuel pressure to determine if fuel pump is falling below min. pressure. (there is a screen on the pickup that can also get restricted by gunk and crud over time.)
