Lights stay on after truck is off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have an 02 f150 7700 series fx4 with the 5.4. My
issue is after the truck is off and key is removed,
my headlights, tail lights and trailer lights (when
my trailer is hooked up of course) stay on and
sometimes the dash lights will flicker. I have to
disconnect the battery everytime i park to get them
to turn off. After a decent or steady rain, there is a
clicking kind of noise from under the dash. I traced
the sound to a small black box looking thing on the
back of the fuse panel on the driver side floor
board above where your left foot would be. Im
assuming it gets wet because it leaks somewhere
in that area and ill find water on my floor board.
Any idea what the part is called, and how to fix the
problem? Also the odometer doesnt always show
up. A mechanic said it was a light behind it and if it
wasnt fixed could cause other problems, is this
related to that? And my wiper blades dont always
turn on amd have turned on after ive turn them off.
Whats going on with my truck????? I love it to
death, but cant take anymore of this gremlin crap.
Someone help please!!

Sounds like you have a pile of electronic problems. When I first read your question, I thought you just had automatic headlights that stayed on a couple of minutes. When reading it again, I think you have corrosion possibly on your fuse panel or under dash causing bad grounds.
How can you fix this problem
i was told by a form mechanic that ford used bad putty when assembling the truck allowing it to leak when it rained causing it to leak on the fuse panel, he said you have to replace the fuse box because the terminals get corroded causing the lights to short out.
Multiplex fuese box going bad.
Did you ever get it resolved? I have the same problem on my 2002 ford f150 5.4v8. Lights on outside and inside wont turn off unless unplugging battery. When the battery is still connected I get that constant pulsating noise from the top left black relay under the dash on the fusebox. I figured it was going bad but it's really hard trying to get it off. Help pls.
It was the bcm ( body control module) or “brain box” under the dash board. It is attached to the back of that fuse box in your picture. The windshield was leaking and the water rain down and dripped directly onto it ( after some research I found their windshields in them were defective as far as leaking goes but since it did not cause and deaths or accidents, it was never recalled.) it’s something you can replace yourself. The cheapest one I found was from rockauto.com. It was 300 something dollars and you DID NOT have to get it flashed or programmed to your truck like some other more expensive ones. There will be a core charge so keep your old one and send it back to them once you receive theirs. I would also have the windshield replaced or re-sealed or you’ll keep have the issue. Also see if water is leaking anywhere else and is following down wires to it. I replaced my bcm and never had a problem afterwards.
GEM modulator has gotten wet and is now demonically possessed.
This is the exact problem I have water on the driver floor board, a couple of lights on the dashboard and kills my battery what an unpredictable pain it has been Ford 150 2002 model.
My 02 4.6 has a issue the parking lights and 1 taillight won’t turn off. It’s rained hard today and my windshield is cracked. Dash lights have went out about a month ago. Think it’s a short from the rain we’ve had?
I have a 2018 Ford f350 the headlights will not shut off the front windows will not go up or down the back windows work fine the power locks do not work the radio does not turn up or down what is the problem with this one
I had the same problem with my headlights turning on during a storm. It caused other problems including the theft light blinking, and the gages turning on after a few minutes after I shut my truck off. I disconnected the battery and allowed the vehicle to dry out for a few days. The fuses also seemed moist so I kept the fuse cover off. When I hooked the battery back up the truck returned to normal.
