how often do you need to replace a fuel pump in a 2002 chevy blazer with 143000 miles. I was told that the pumps go out after 70000 miles and is that true?

NHTSA cites sulfur content in fuel as a large contribution to fuel pump failure when petitioned about GM pumps failing in GM cars. the best you can do is buy name brand gas from a station you trust. their additives are one difference, the cleanliness of their transport truck and their tanks and pumps need to be something you can trust. any way to reduce dirt. Including your check and replacement of your filter. dont wait. dump and blow the contents back into a jar and see what you are trying to pump. metallic particles means clean out the tank completely.

We need more information. It "won't start" could mean anything. Does the engine turn over (try to start)? More information and we can try to help.

A pump can quit at any time.Check the fuel pressure first don’t just assume the pump is bad.. Need to have 57 pounds of fuel pressure to open injectors .
