Have a 1997 f-150, sometimes it starts and runs perfect. other times it cranks but no fuel

Have changed the filter and both temp sensors and gas cap. Was told it could be the fuel rail pressure sensor but after checking it doesn't have on only on the tank pressure sensor. Has 4.2l

you tested the fuel pressure when it doesn't start ? check for rotted wires ,bad connections and good ground
