Is there anyway to check the PCM?

Yes, but most shops don't have the electronic gear necessary and or they don't want to learn this takes time and work! 1. Simple quick... check is to inspect the circuit board visually remove it and check for bad capacitors (leaking) or a burnt or damaged PCB (printed circuit board) along with the connector pin groups. Or buy a replacement for $180 or less I don't see a lot of failures... BUT age and or abuse, such as garbage low voltage (one bad cell) batteries being used or jump starting etc along with the climate, moisture... KINDA like spilling coffee on a laptop or keyboard DEAD instantly you get the idea Regards
