Have you ever experienced a blowout of a spark plug shooting out of its cylinder and how much is the repair?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I started my truck to warm it up before going to work two days ago. When I went to take off as I put it in drive one of the spark plugs shot out of the cylinder. My question is how common is this and what is the repair process?

did it just unscrew itself are there still threads my bros 2003 f150 did this
The threads are destroyed. A mechanic who looked at it told me that he will have to take the top of the engine off to get to the problem. It was the one that is farthest back on the right side. With this information what do you estimate the cost to re-thread this cylinder and put the engine back together?
where do you live and wht size engine is it
Ford issued a technical Service Bulletin about this.TSB #031404 You probably have aluminum heads, and the threads are not long enough. http://www.fordproblems.com/trends/triton-engine/spark-plug-ejection.shtml
