Vehicle randomly won't start

Asked by JohnHallisy Mar 29, 2015 at 09:56 PM about the 1999 Ford F-150 XL 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 1999  Ford F-150 with over 200,00 miles. Once in a while it won't start.  The engine will kick over, but not start.  After 2 or 3 tries, it starts.  Once it starts, it drives great.  No missing.  No sputtering.  No loss of power.  I recently put in a new starter and a new starter solenoid.  It was tuned up about a month ago and the problem still exists.  Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Have you changed the fuel filter in 200K miles, could be partially blocked. Check the fuel pressure on the rail with ignition on but not running. Check against the specs listed on the net.
