Ford 1999 f-150 stopped shifting into second and third and sometimes overdrive

Check your fluid level. Engine and transmission up to temperature and running. Pull the transmission dip stick. Clean it off and reinsert it into the transmission dip stick tube, pull it out and see what it reads. When you are there sniff the fluid. Look at it. If it smells bad and or is reddish brown change it. But it maybe to late.
