Chevy Cavalier Trac Off light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier, the check
engine light and Trac Off light are on. It
won't go over 40 mph, it's shifting hard
and sometimes it dies at red lights,
Replaced the fuel filter and spark plugs.
Got a scan and it said it was the 02 sensor,
replaced that and it's still not fixed. Any
suggestions?

You may have a plugged catalytic converter, should go to an exhaust shop to have that looked at. The track light would be in the ABS codes to know whats going on there. Some scanners are not capable of reading ABS codes, so ask if theirs does.
I have the exact same problem. I finally was able to get a mechanic to read it and it is fuse in the engine that needs to be replace, at least mine was (I can't remember what exactly he said it was). Cost is about $150-$200 with labor. I'm getting rid of the car in a few days, so I did not get it fixed. Does yours clear when you turn the car off and back on?
Had this exact problem in my '02. Turned out to be the throttle position sensor (TPS). Replaced it myself 7 years ago and haven't had the issue since.
Jesse... mine is doing the same thing.... replaced TPS, quit for a while but now doing it again. Your thoughts? Anyone?
Can ur Cadillac converter cause your Trac off light come on and make you lose a little power
