Stuck in Park, will not turn off

2002 Chevy Cavalier
My daughter started the car, and could not get it
into Drive. Furthermore,the key was stuck in the
Running position with engine running.

What is needed?

Did you try a different key? If yes, you'll need to change the ignition lock/tumbler, hope this helps

Thanks for the quick reply. I cannot get the key out of the ignition. It will not move from the "Run" position.

Can You get the steering wheel off? Is this a column shift? How did you shut it off? Do you have a spare key?
