I have a 2000 ford f-150 5.4. When I start it it just dies. Most of the time I have to keep my foot on the gas when at a light. Any suggestions?

It could be a number of things, like clogged fuel filter, timing, ideal RPM, ect. Your best bet would be to start at the cheapest (fuel filter)(also most common) and go from their.

More than likely it's the IAC (idle air control) valve that's stuck shut, common issue on the 4.6 and 5.4 engines, it's a cylinder shaped part that attaches near the throttle body, usually a light tap with a handle of a screwdriver will free them up short term.

http://www.ford- trucks.com/forums/970611-how-to- clean-the-iac-valve-on-the-5-4l- triton.html This shows a write up for a 5.4 on actually removing it and cleaning it, if you go that route I'd be cautious about not getting to much cleaner in it incase it seeps past the seals into the electrical portion, as well as careful with the bolts, there fairly small and don't require alot of torque at all
