What do I have, 4R70 or 4R100?

Good Day, I have a 2001 Ford F-150 5.4 two
wheel drive automatic truck. I’ve been told by
some it takes a 4R100 tranny, and by others
it’s a 4R70. The door tag is worn and can’t be
read. How can I find out FOR SURE which
transmission is the correct one?

There should be a tag on the transmission telling you what the transmission is. It's usually on the side of the transmission. Hope that helps! Jim
