Installing a new starter soleniod
on my 2003 ford 150 xl 4.6 litter
engine. When i hook up the wires
to the starter soleniod  u just hear
click click. When u hook up the
older part the truck starts right up.

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Are you talking about number 1 in the picture? Maybe wrong part, maybe wiring connector problem? With helper trying to crank, wiggle the wire connectors. See the two large terminals in picture 1, if you use a long shank screwdriver touching those two terminals, the starter motor should crank the engine. You don't need the key. If you try that, make sure the transmission is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set. See the smaller terminal, probably goes hot with key in the crank position and is wired through neutral or clutch switch, depending on your transmission.
