I have a 2002 Chevrolet Impala and it shuts down while driving. I can only think of doing a general tune up, but does anyone else have this issue?

I've only had that happen to me twice. Most of the time it wont' let me start and the "security" light on the dash flash repeatedly. I know form the 01 Impala model it has a security chip issue and ignition lock cylinder becomes defective and causes that to happen. They probably didn't fix that problem until the 2003 version of the Impala.
Interesting, I havent heard of that idea yet. Most forums say its the Mass Air Flow sensor. Im just wanting opinions before I drop too much money
Do you have any lights on the instrument panel come on? If your smog system is acting up, you will get a message light. Have you cleaned out you fuel lines lately or put cleaner in the tank. You may check the fuel filters. After market fuel system cleaners will not do the job you dealer does on the system maintenance clean-out. It may be either computer, electrical or fuel related, or a voodoo curse.
