Rebuild or buy remanufactured Ford 4.2 L Essex V6

My cousin is giving me a F150 V6 4.2L, needs to be rebuilt, it runs but leaks oil.
Should I rebuild or buy a remanufactured engine?

I'd buy a crate engine for it since the vehicle is free. But before you do that, find out what's leaking. It might be better to just fix the leak. Hope that helps! Jim
