Manifolds or cam phasers
Asked by Josh Oct 12, 2020 at 06:47 PM about the 2004 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
2004 f 150 she needs some body work but
manifolds are said to be needing a
replacement cause she shuts off after ten
minutes of running, is that true?? Or is it the
cam phasers that need to be done In it, heard
that people have thought it was guaranteed
the cam phasers but ended up actually being
the manifold ended up cracking by the studs
or in that area, any truth to this or some
guidance on what I could do? Thanks

Scan for codes and read up on how to diagnose cam phasers. https://www.cloyes.com/diagnosing-vvt-cam-phaser-issues-on-ford-5-4-liter-v8-engines/

Getting an elimination kit for the cam phasers seems it be a good idea would it? Snd possibly get away with not having to tune it? Or until I can afford the tuner?( if needed)
