Bi-directional scanner
If you purchased the part at a national auto parts chain, they have bi-directional scanners. Just ask them to clear all the codes.
Disconnecting all the electricity to an ECM will never "erase" codes in an OBD-2 system. A lightning bolt might do it, if it's a direct hit, but modern ECMs are designed to not allow any owner or parts house to do it without a bi-directional scanner. The last ECMs that dumped data by disconnecting the battery were the old systems that were pretty much fazed out around 1994-5.
I see. Kinda odd though.... not disbelieving you, but I've been an MVPC/INSTALLER-INSPECTOR in California for many years ... over 47 ... and this as been debated a lot. However, having never seen that happen myself, and not had any close associates say they saw it either. .........., makes me wonder why this might not be able to replicate on any vehicles I worked on in days past. I just finished a '98 Suburban today that the customer repeatedly tried to erase his codes like that. It didn't work for him either, but i'm keeping a slightly open mind on this yet

I have a 2002 f150 my eng. lighte keeps come on what wood it be
my f150 4.6 check engine light stays on. sometimes it flashes while driving on the highway. I know it's a misfire. I am considering changing the spark plugs. has anyone else had this issue? Did changing the spark plugs work?

If its flashing, it means its a major misfire. Could be the plugs, but doubtful. Is more than likely a shot ignition coil or a bad injector. Seeing as how we dont have distributors.
My 09 f150 was doing the same thing until a few min ago. It needed new pugs. Ichanged the plugs and woohoo!!! No ore skip while accelerating. No more flashing eng light. now, i just need to get the eng light turne off.
For misfire issues, if the plugs have not been changed for a while then change them. You can also get 8 new coils for about $200 in most parts stores and they are failry easy to change (except the rear passenger one). I would recommend doing the coils with the plugs and that will solve the vast majority of misfires.
I have that 4.6 in my f-150 and changing the plugs and coil a definately corrected the service engine lite, but this motor seemingly goes through plugs and or the coils inevitably on #4 cyl, and #8cyl, the two youngest to get to!.... Say's "Indyj1453" I. Nashville tn
I meant the "..... toughest" to get to!
Just change the o2 sensors disconnecting the battery and turning the key On wait 5min turn key off reconnect battery , it worked for me
On my f150 first #1 went then #2 and yes #3 was next. So I figured they were going 1x1 change them all in the beginning safe yourself money in the long run spark plugs and coil packs. And blow out the spark plugs before you take them out. 4&10 are not as hard as people make it sound you just need some patience. Yes I have a 07 f150 with a 4.6

2008 Ford F-150 King Ranch. Disconnected battery cables for a few minutes and it cleared.
