I have a 2004 Ford F-150 flareside with
almost 200k miles on the motor. I’ve been
looking for a new motor and was curious
about which motors would fit. I was told by a
local scrap yard owner of mine that it has to
be a 2004 5.4 because the dimensions were
off between 2004 and 2005-08. I was just
curious if anyone knew if it was possible to
do these swaps..... Also i was wondering if
anyone knew where I could find the trailer
hitch/receiver for these flareside trucks.
They’re impossible to find and Ford sells
them for ~$620. Thank you in advanced!

Not only should the engine be the same year you need to make sure the engine came from the same plant. There are two different versions of the Triton made. I would look in junkyards for the hitch. Maybe you will get lucky.
