The selector rod has most likely popped out of the nylon grommet at the transmission. You can pop it back in with your hand or a pair of pliers. Get a new grommet (retainer) ASAP.

If the selector rod has popped out at its connection point on the tranny you will not feel the tranny "slick" selections as you shief through the gears. It will feel smooth, not the normal feel of the gears moving into position. If it is a smooth feel, have someone shift the lever up and down while you look at the connection point underneath. It it has become detached you'll see the problem. If it is attached and the atachment point moves on the side of the tranny, the problem is inside.

@2004v8, F150. Shifter does not engage. When all the way to right the truck will move. Will not keep truck in Park, lets truck roll. Will start engine in Drive.
